The Midwest Society of Addiction Medicine (MWSAM) is a regional chapter of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, representing the states of Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska. MWSAM is committed to advancing the understanding and treatment of addiction through comprehensive educational opportunities, including workshops and seminars in this region. The chapter fosters collaboration among addiction specialists, physicians, and other healthcare providers, creating a strong network for professional growth, advocacy, and innovation in addiction medicine across the Midwest.

Nebraska

In Nebraska, our addiction medicine community continues to expand as more clinicians become dedicated to the cause of preventing and treating substance use disorders. The state offers a fellowship program through the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where fellows receive advanced training in addiction medicine, including specialized care in rural and underserved populations. This program fosters leaders who are equipped to make a positive impact in both clinical practice and addiction medicine policy.

Kansas

Kansas is home to a dedicated group of addiction medicine professionals who are deeply involved in providing care across a range of services. The state is home to a robust fellowship program at the University of Kansas Medical Center, providing comprehensive training to those committed to treating addiction. Fellows in Kansas gain hands-on experience in various care settings preparing them to deliver effective, patient-centered care in a variety of practice environments.

Missouri

Missouri is home to a strong network of addiction medicine professionals who work tirelessly to address the growing need for treatment in the state. Missouri is also proud to offer an accredited addiction medicine fellowship through the Saint Louis University School of Medicine. This fellowship equips physicians with the skills and expertise to provide comprehensive care to patients with substance use disorders. The fellowship focuses on both clinical excellence and compassion.
